DALLAS COWBOYS

STADIUM-SIZED SAVINGS IN FOOD WASTE

The Dallas Cowboys and the Jones family are known for being innovative leaders in the NFL and in the community. The organization implemented ORCA into the AT&T Stadium’s waste disposal program, enabling the team to further expand their community influence by becoming greener.

Savings and benefits:

• Food waste diverted to ORCA = 11,500 lbs/month
• Methane generation avoided = 755 yd3/month
• Greenhouse gas emissions avoided = 11.5 tons eCO2 /month

Savings add up to the equivalent of planting 26 trees/month or diverting 3,150 meals/month from landfills.

A NEW FOOD WASTE PARTNERSHIP

"Our chefs understood the need to eliminate biodegradable food waste. The normal routine was for our staff to stick the waste in a trash can and haul it directly to our dumpster away from the kitchen, which would take quite a while to do. We have the ability now to just drop our food waste into the ORCA machine and in 24 hours it’s gone. The thing that I think has been the biggest impact for us is how the employees feel about their work environment. They feel good knowing that what they are doing is better for the environment. It’s comforting to think that what we have here is working year round to be a better steward for our earth."
